The safari starts with a transfer out of Rovaniemi to Snowtrail’s safari house in the countryside, where you are kitted out in winter clothing and your guide introduces you to the dogs.
The sledding runs through forest and open countryside, with a stop about halfway at a kota to warm up by the fire. After the run back to the safari house there is time to meet and feed Snowtrail’s reindeer before the transfer home, which makes this a half-day with two kinds of animal rather than a husky ride alone.
What the listing does not publish is what you would need to compare it with other kennels: the length of the trail, the largest group Snowtrail takes, how many share a sled and whether you drive the team yourself. Ask for all four before booking.

Questions people ask
Where is the pickup, and what if we are staying outside the centre?
Pickup is included within 10 km of Rovaniemi city centre, and Snowtrail also picks up towards Tervola along its route. Wait in the hotel lobby or at the agreed meeting point a few minutes early and allow 10 to 15 minutes either way for routing and weather. If you are staying further out, Snowtrail will arrange a central meeting point in Rovaniemi or quote for an extra pickup, so settle that before you book. The pickup time in your confirmation is also the start of the activity.
What happens if we need to cancel?
Snowtrail's two documents disagree. The tour page says cancellation is free up to 24 hours before departure; the general terms charge half the price from seven days out and all of it in the final day. Ask which applies to your booking, in writing, and plan on the stricter one until you have an answer. If Snowtrail itself cancels for weather or safety, the terms are clearer: you can move to another date or take a full refund, though not the cost of travel or accommodation around it.
Can small children come, and who drives the sled?
The minimum age is three. Beyond that the page is silent: it does not say who drives the sled, how many people share one, or whether a child rides with an adult, so none of it can be assumed from the listing. Parents of a three- or four-year-old should ask how a small child is seated and how long the family will be outdoors in one stretch before the kota break, because that, rather than the age limit, decides whether a toddler enjoys it.
